Droid Naming Mechanics

How do I name my droid?

Droids have a very restricted name filter. Their names must be one word (no spaces), and have no numbers or other special characters in them. You may use capital letters, but bear in mind that their names are case-sensitive so please remember to enter them in exactly the same way each time. In addition certain models of droid cannot be named, see the question below.

You rename your droid by training it with at least four commands with the droid's name first, and then the command with a space between. For example:

       * Select Program from the droid's radial menu, and select "Attack".

* Droid indicates it is ready with a question mark floating above its head "?".

* Say the name that you'd like the droid to be called, followed by a space and then the command, eg "NunaKiller attack"

* Droid responds to indicate that it has learnt that command by an exclamation mark floating above its head "?".

* Repeat three more times with different commands:

* Select Program from the droid's radial menu, and select "Guard".

* "?"

* "NunaKiller guard"

* "!"

* Select Program from the droid's radial menu, and select "Stay".

* "?"

* "NunaKiller stay"

* "!"

* Select Program from the droid's radial menu, and select "Follow Me".

* "?"

* "NunaKiller heel"

* "!"

* Droid now says, "? NunaKiller ?" indicating that it has learnt its name and you should see the name above the droid's body change.

* You can now go back and retrain those four commands however you'd like (without the droids name in).

Can all droid types have a name?

Currently droids that can have personality modules installed cannot be named and will keep their model type as a name, for example "Advanced LE Repair Droid". All of the affected droids are the humanoid shaped ones.

The following droids cannot be named:

       * LE Repair Droid (standard and advanced models)
* Protocol Droid (standard and advanced models)
* Surgical Droid (standard and advanced models)

All other player controllable droids can be named.
