Game Mechanics

The Image Designer mini-publish in May of 2004 gave Image Designers the new ability to grant holo-emotes to themselves and their customers. Whereas traditional emotes caused avatars to perform certain animations, holo-emotes involve special graphical effects independent of the avatar's movements. All holo-emotes are visual effects only; they do not produce sounds.

Players can request holo-emotes from Image Designers with skills in the hairstyling tree. Image designers are granted more holo-emotes as they level up this tree.

There are 16 Holo-Emotes. An Expert Hairstylist has access to all of them. A player may be given any one holo emote or given access to All of them at once. A player can only have one type of holo emote at a time and when an image designer gives them a new holo emote, it will overwrite whatever current one they have. Whether you are given "one" or "all" there will be 20 charges for each type.

Players can determine which holo emote they have as well as the uses remaining in it by using the /holoemote help command in game. This will produce a Holo Emote Window that will offer instructions for how to use it. A unique holo emote window is given for Single Holo Emotes and also for All Holo Emotes.

Players can use holo emotes by entering the command /holoemote and listing the holo emote type that they wish to use. For example

/holoemote beehive

will use the beehive holoemote if they have obtained it from the image designer.

A holo emote usage will be deducted for each holo emote charge used.

Obtaining Holo Emotes

Simply type /holo help to access these instructions. Holo-emotes have different durations, refered to as Low (10-15 seconds) and High (20+ seconds) below. There is a 30-second timer between starting one holo-emote and the next.
