Planet - Taanab

SWGANH Wiki is a repository of Star Wars Galaxies Developer information. This site is only meant to be used by SWGANH Developer team.

Description

Taanab was a planet of reddish/brown meadows in the Taanab system. Has 2 major cities Pandath (Capitol), and Pendath. Pandath has the planet's only starport. It was primarily used for agriculture and farming. Its populace was known for always maintaining an air of formality.

Rhuum grain is grown on the planet Taanab, and shipped to a number of planets across the galaxy.

History

Taanab was once a world covered in thick, inhospitable jungle, similar to Felucia. During the New Sith Wars, the Brotherhood of Darkness captured the planet. The planet was especially known for its roba steak. Captain Mullinore was from the world.

Huff Darklighter once employed farmers from Taanab, as well as Bandomeer and Salliche, to staff his underground hydroponic gardens on Tatooine.

Captane, Daniil was the portmaster of Taanab's primary spaceport.

Points of interest on the agricultural planet Taanab include the Pandath spaceport and the Banthal Company orbital docking array, where the largest cargo ships are typically found. Four thousand years ago, the freighter Kestrel Nova was captured from space pirates near Taanab and was used by Ulic Qel-Droma to travel to the Tetan system. Millennia later, the planet found itself plagued by annual raids of bandits from Norulac. One year, Lando Calrissian happened to be at the Pandath spaceport when the pirates arrived for their latest assault. Calrissian, on a bet, agreed to attack the raiders, and hid his ship in the ice ring surrounding Taanab's moon while he waited for the pirates to make their run on the docking array. When his target was in position, Calrissian ejected his cargo-- hundreds of Conner nets-- into the center of the attacking fleet. As the pirates struggled to untangle themselves, the cocky gambler hit them with tractored ice blocks from the moon's ring and caused even further damage. Finally, Calrissian led the Taanab defense fleet in their clean-up operation, and single-handedly accounted for nineteen kills. Though the Taanab portmaster offered him a permanent job, Calrissian declined, preferring instead to investigate his newly-won deed to a Clendoran brewery. Later, just prior to the Battle of Endor, Calrissian was promoted to Alliance general partly on the notoriety of this incident. Over five years later, Joruus C'baoth coordinated an Imperial attack on Taanab, where he used the Bellicose's turbolasers to destroy a New Republic ship over the direct orders of Captain Aban.

Years later, Jedi Knight Jaden Korr went to Taanab to discover more about the operations going on there by the Disciples of Ragnos. Jaden battled a mutant rancor which the Disciples intended to release in a populated place so they could pillage the area during the chaos.

Rogue Squadron veteran Wes Janson was a native of Taanab. He named the Taanab Yellow Aces after the world. Taanab Yellow Aces Squadron, all-volunteer starfighter squadron, made up of A-Wings and E-Wings painted yellow with angular black stripes, joined the New Republic forces which massed at Borleias in the wake of the Battle of Coruscant. Originally based on Taanab, the squadron flew escort duty for the Reckless Abandon during the resupplying of the Borleias base. When the squadron arrived at Borleias, it was revealed that their leader was none other than Wes Janson. The Yellow Aces remained attached to the New Republic's forces after the formation of the Galactic Alliance, and was instrumental in the liberation of the prisoners of war that were held on Selvaris.

Jorsk, a native of the planet Taanab, disliked flechette weapons because of their distinct patterns, which gave immediate clues at to their usage. A smuggler of some renown, Jorsk ran weapons and supplies to Alliance forces during the height of the Galactic Civil War.

Wild Life

Robas were large porcine beasts native to the planet Aralia. Their average adult weight was nine hundred kilograms. Robas were the favored prey of the Ranats, who used hit-and-run tactics to kill them. Packs of Ranats would chase the giant beasts, making swift, flesh-ripping attacks to weaken the robas and quickly retreating from their large tusks. Eventually, the weakened beasts would fall, and the Ranats would move in for the kill. Robas were rare on Aralia, possibly due to overhunting by the Ranats. On Taanab they were farmed for their food and were presumably the source of roba steak.

While on a mission to Taanab, Jaden Korr encountered a mutated rancor. The beast was much larger than normal, had strange green capsules on its back, could breathe a stream of green toxic gas (or possibly fire) and had an unnatural green hue to its skin. The Disciples of Ragnos had planned on releasing the beast in Taanab cities so that during the chaos they could steal arms and other needed goods. The rancor was released as Jaden arrived. It chased Jaden around the facility, possibly the location of its creation, destroying all obstacles in its path, and eating any disciples that it encountered. Finally, Jaden managed to kill the beast by pinning it between a force field and a large crate on a conveyor belt.
