Profession Overview
Tailor abilities are designed around the creation of the most interesting and useful clothing in the galaxy. Tailors learn to craft everything from outdoorsman clothing to militaristic clothes and even the clothing of high society. Since Tailor is an advanced profession, no other professions require it as a prerequisite. To become a Tailor, one must first complete the Domestic Arts line of the Artisan.
Abilities
Tailors get abilities to create more fancy and functional clothing. Even as they learn to make more interesting articles of clothing, they learn to make more functional clothing and items. A Tailor gains the ability to make their clothing into minor armor, as well as gains the ability to make better backpacks for people to store items in.
The four Tailor skill lines are: Casual Wear, Field Wear, Formal Wear, and Tailoring. Let's look at each of these in detail.
Casual Wear
Casual Wear is the skill tree that contains the casual clothing that most people wear most of the time. It contains boots and gloves, as well as pants and shirts. There is a wide variety of jackets available on this path, as well as some new cloaks and "Wookie-Wear". The main advantage of this path is the casual style of schematics that are learned on it.
Field Wear
Field Wear is the "outdoorsman" line of clothing schematics. It contains work clothes, as well as several storage containers (different types of backpacks). Some of the more interesting articles on this line are the "Infiltrator Leggings" and the Spec-Ops Duster. Tailors who focus on this path will be crafting many useful items as well as the clothing that they will learn to make.
Formal Wear
Formal Wear is the path that leads to the most fancy clothing in Star Wars Galaxies. This path has many fancy styles of clothing, as well as much Jewelry. There are several robes in this path, as well as gowns and pants. This is the path to take if a Tailor wishes to create highly luxurious items (and, of course people expect to pay for luxury).
Tailoring
The other three paths of tailoring teach the Tailor to create new and exciting items, but this path teaches them to create those items well. Tailors who focus on tailoring will learn to put their clothing together better as well as gain the ability to experiment on it (for even better end results). Besides improved quality clothing, tailoring teaches a Tailor to customize their clothing, allowing them a wider range of looks for each article.
Master Tailors
Master Tailors (who have all the Tailor abilities and have obtained Master status) gain additional skill bonuses and access to some of the most interesting clothing in the game. They can make, amongst other things, the Metal Bikini, the Fighter Flightsuit, as well as several intricate jewlry designs.
There are no advanced professions to grow into from Tailor, but it is possible to master Tailoring as well as another Profession.
