Game MechanicsHerald npcs are npcs that are used to inform players of particular spots on a planet through dialogue and by issuing waypoints. Herald npcs are classified as "quest" variants and POI dispensor variants.
When a player interacts with a waypoint herald npc, the npc will usually engage in a dialogue requesting the player to go visit a location. If the player accepts the request, they are given a waypoint to visit. When the player gets within 80 meters of the waypoint, the "quest" is completed and the waypoint removed from the player's datapad. The POI dispensor variant heralds will simply offer the player a choice of points of interests to go to without intiating a quest event or other plot device.
