System MessagesUsable Commands/gallop Usable Radial MenusClimb Aboard Pet SUI PromptsMountsCreature Handlers with the skill Creature Empathy IV are capable of training certain creature pets to be mounts. These animals may be tamed out in the wild or created by a Bio-Engineer. These creatures must also fit within certain size limitations; if they are too big or too small, the Creature Handler won't have the radial option available to train them as mounts. The mount may be traded or given like a normal pet and follows all the standard rules of pets.
Types of MountsYou can't make just any pet into a mount. At this time, the only creatures that can be mounted are:
All variants of a mountable species will work (i.e. dewbacks, lesser dewbacks, mountain dewbacks). Entirely different species that are similar in appearance will NOT work (i.e. NOT bagerasets, bolmas, mawgax, etc). Training a MountA pet has to reach a certain size (which varies by creature) before the Train As Mount command becomes available in its training menu. In most cases this will be around 50-75% of its total adult growth, though some of the larger variants (like giant carrion spats and savage humbabas) may be mountable much sooner. Giant carrion spats in particular can be made into mounts immediately after taming. When a mount reaches 47% of its size and level, it can become too large to be used as a mount. When this happens, the owner will receive a one time Yes or No response pop-up box asking if they wish to stop its growth, or no longer have it function as a mount. This is the players only chance to decide. If the player chooses to not stop its growth, the creature will continue growing to adult hood. If the pet was previously trained as a mount before the prompt occurs, the pet will have its saddle removed. If the player chooses to stop the pet's growth then the pet will be forced down to the size that it was at when it was at a cl that is 41% of its adult form. Using a MountYou can climb aboard a mount by first targeting the mount then choosing "Climb Aboard Pet" from its radial menu, or targeting it and typing /mount. Players can use the /mount command to mount a pet or a vehicle by inputting its name into the command line. Players may also mount something by using the /mount command while having the mount/vehicle targeted and are nearby.Players must be within 3 meters of the mount to be able to get on it.
For example /mount vehicletypename If the vehicle is a "speaderbike swoop" then the following syntax will work: /mount speederbike /mount speederbike swoop
If the mount is a creature pet with a name For example: /mount (petname) If the pet's name is Benny, the following will work /mount (benny)
You can dismount by choose "Climb Off Of Pet" radial option from the creature's radial menu, or typing /dismount. You can also store mounts in the data section of your datapad (default CTRL-D). Use the "Call" option to bring out the mount. You can still engage in combat while mounted, but you will be unable to use any of your special profession moves. In addition to being limited to default attacks, your mount will drastically slow down to prevent you from attacking while keeping out of your target's range (a.k.a. "kiting").
The disadvantage of mounts is you cannot use special combat moves while mounted, only default attacks. Additionally, you cannot use any combat moves or default attacks while galloping. Mounts will not attack or defend while being ridden, but will act like normal pets if they have no rider on them. Mounts cannot go inside buildings.
