Pets that deathblow in the wild will deathblow without being issued a command to do so, and there is no command to issue a deathblow by a pet. They do what comes naturallly. So, yes, a rancor will DB an incapped player that's red to you. So will a greater sludge panther, or a gaping spider hunter. There is nothing the master can do about this...he can't command a DB, and he can't prevent a DB unless he calls the pet off at the last moment to stop it, and with the bugginess of pet attacks right now, that's problematic at best.
In an RP event, I had my huurton stalker guarding me, and one of the other participants, as part of the script, dueled me. The huurton got in the scrum, of course, and DBd the other participant. I apologized profusely, but as it turns out (and I did not know at the time) the other participant was supposed to be DBd, it was in the portion of the script I didn't have access to, so the other player was expecting it. It was part of the storyline which had to do with multiple clones and a virius that prevented cloning, so once you died, YOU DIED, which was the hook to the story.
