Game MechanicsResources are objects in the game in which are used in the production of crafted goods. All resources are classified by categories in the form of nested tiering types and sub-types. All resources have a certain set of attributes given to them that are used to affect the quality of the crafted goods. Each resource has a min and max cap value that can spawn for these attributes. The value for the attributes are selected randomly within these min and max ranges. The resource class type break down along with each resource's min and max cap attribute values can be found in the client files under "resource_tree.iff." Locating ResourcesMost types of Inorganic and Organic Resources are located by means of using the artisan surveying ability in combination with artisan survey tools. Each tool is geared specifically to locate certain types and classes of resources. When this ability is used, a local terrain map is generated in the tools display that shows the player an area that is setup in the form of a grid. This grid is made up of percentage values that indicate concentrations of a particular resource. The concentration points on the grid indicate how much of the resource the player can acquire during the extraction process using a resource harvesting machine or the sampling option on the survey tool. Resources and their concentration points are generated by a dynamic and complex system that distributes individual resource types through out the various planets. Some resources are planet specific and are only found on those particular planets while others may be found across many different planets. The resource seeding process as well as how the resource concentration grid is setup is more thoroughly explained through the work of Lunariel which can be found here: Aquiring ResourcesThere are 8 methods for acquiring resources:
