The uxp is of the same type as the original item. If you get any from pants in the "Dom Arts" branch of artisan, you'll get general crafting xp. Uxp from armor you create (except for Bone, since that's an artisan item) would presumably give you armor craft xp.
I don't know about wearables (maybe try asking in the Tailor or Armorsmith forums), but I've definitely seen UXP for food I've created, and I helped a BE friend grind through some tissues by giving her UXP.
She'd make a nutrient supplement tissue (call it 100 xp) and give it to me. I'd use it in a paste bread (a dessert component). This gives me 80 xp, and her 50 uxp because I used something she made. I'd then hand the paste bread to her, she'd feed it to her pet, giving me 40 uxp. We did this in batches of 15-20 using a satchel, so it actually went rather smoothly.
For multi-dose items, I only got the uxp when the last dose was used.
With the spotty earning of uxp depending on whether you're logged on and where you are in relation to your customers, it's not something that can really be counted on. But it is a nice bonus. I had been running around the other day doing destroy missions, and my food crafting xp went up a couple hundred just because I had some customers in the area.

Hate to say it but it not entirely untrue, there is UXP gained in weaponsmithing, but it is seriously borked. From my own experience I have noticed times while online I've gain occasionly UXP from weapons I sold in the bazaar. When those particular people used them, while I was in the same general area, I gain about 1 exp every so often, although very rare. But the major area I have noticed UXP was when I was grinding. I was helping a smuggler friend with their slicing so to help grind I made a whole bunch of D18 pistols for him and WUK's. When i gave him a batch of pistols and WUK's to work I'd check to see how much exp i earned in that round.......well to my surprised when he sliced a weapon I got about 80-90 exp for him using the WUK. He was standing next to me during the time. Maybe others can check to see if this samething is happening for them.

You get usage exp only when someone eats or feeds to their pet the last item in a stack of food or drink, and then only if they are near you. From my experience, the exp goes away somewhere between 500 and 1000 meters distance away from you. If you give someone a stack of 10, the first 9 give you nothing, only that 10th one.

Clothing Usage XP = 1 XP per minute per item being worn while both of you are online. Max is the same as the original XP you got for crafting it.
