Well currently you can only have 4 successful forages in an area.

No matter if you forage 1, 2, 3 items at once or get the "special" forage that never fits in your inventory....once you hit the 4th success that area is dry. I haven't tested the exact amount of time it takes, but the area will regenerate items at a rate of roughly 1 per 5min. So there's already a minor deterant for the macroing. I'm sure if it that isn't severe enough other measures could be put in.

/sigh ... I'm not saying you cannot forage successfully more than 4 times in a spot. What I am saying is something like this:

• that each "area" has 4 forage slots

• if you earn a success, no matter what kind of success, a slot is emptied

• a timer is started, and 2.5-3mins later that specific slot is filled again

So if you say get 4 successes in a row, you will not get a success for another 2 minutes or so. If you fail a lot between successes, it will seem like there is always something there. This is the way I think it works. So yes, I suppose you can forage in a spot forever, but you cannot expect to get something every other try.
